Daniel Martin

CIO, Managing Partner & Founding Partner

Daniel Martin is the CIO, Managing Partner and founding partner of Rye Bay Capital LLP. Prior to establishing Rye Bay Capital, Daniel spent from 2007–2014 at Pelham Capital Management LLP. Prior to Pelham, Daniel was at Citigroup from 2000-2007, where he was a Managing Director and Co-head of the European Utilities team.

Before joining Citigroup, Daniel spent time as an analyst at Robert Fleming (1992-1993), Smith New Court (1993-1994), BZW (1994-1996) and Dresdner Kleinwort Benson (1996–2000).  Prior to working in finance, Daniel worked as a post doctorate research fellow in Earth Sciences at Cambridge University (1989-1990) and Reed Business Publishing (1990-1992).

Daniel obtained a PhD in Geophysics from the Australian National University in 1988, and a First Class Degree in Natural Sciences (Geological Sciences) from Cambridge University in 1985.

Jeff Davis

Senior Investment Analyst & Founding Partner

Jeff Davis is a senior investment analyst and founding partner of Rye Bay Capital LLP. Prior to joining Rye Bay Capital in September 2015, Jeff worked within HSBC Global Banking and Markets where he and a colleague set up the European Construction and Building Materials equity research team in mid-2009.

The Team went on to be ranked top-3 in Extel in each of the subsequent three years. Jeff was the highest ranked housebuilding analyst for four consecutive years. Jeff started his career in June 2007 at the hedge fund CQS, where he was an analyst working for the European Long/Short Equity fund.

Jeff graduated with first class honours in Economics BSc from the University of Nottingham in 2006.

James Woodrow

Senior Investment Analyst & Partner

James Woodrow is a senior investment analyst and partner of Rye Bay Capital LLP. Prior to joining Rye Bay Capital in September 2016, James worked at The Analyst Research, a London-based provider of equity research, where he sent four years as an analyst focused on Short selling recommendations.

James started his career in 2008 in Brewin Dolphin's (subsequently N+1 Brewin/N+1 Singer) small and mid cap research team as an analyst researching the UK Support Services, IT Services and Construction sectors. James graduated from the University of Durham in 2008 with a BA (Hons) in Business Finance and has been a CFA charterholder since 2012.

Dominic Richards

Investment Analyst & Partner

Dominic Richards is an investment analyst and partner of Rye Bay Capital LLP. Prior to joining Rye Bay Capital in September 2018, Dominic worked at Pensato Capital for three years as the analyst responsible for the Industrial sector.

Dominic started his career in September 2013 at Simon-Kucher & Partners as a management consultant. Dominic graduated with a Double First Class degree in Natural Sciences (Chemistry) from Cambridge University in 2013.

Mats Sodergen

Head of Trading & Founding Partner

Mats Sodergen is the Head of Trading a founding partner of Rye Bay Capital LLP. Prior to joining Rye Bay Capital in September 2015, Mats was a partner at Davidson Kempner European Partners and the Head of European His tenure at Davidson Kempner from 2006-2015 culminated in Mats managing a team of traders and trading for three books (risk arbitrage, long/short equity and his own trading finance book).

Prior to Davidson Kempner, Mats worked at Tisbury Capital Management, Coutts Bank and Barclays Bank. Mats obtained a BSc (Hons) degree in Computer Science from the University of Leicester in 2002.

Ian Bickerstaffe

Chief Operating Officer & Founding Partner

Ian Bickerstaffe is the Chief Operating Officer and founding partner of Rye Bay Capital LLP. Prior to joining Rye Bay Capital in September 2015, Ian worked at Denjoy Capital Partners LLP from 2013 as the Chief Operating Officer.

Before this, Ian was the Chief Operating Officer and founding partner at Ridley Park Capital LLP (2010-2013). Ian worked at Polar Capital LLP as their Head of Operations between 2005 & 2010. Ian started his career in financial services working at Ernst & Young in the Cayman Islands in an audit and assurance capacity (1999-2001).

He then joined Fortis PFS in Cayman in 2001 and spent 4 years as a Manager/ Senior Manager in the alternative investment group. Ian obtained a BA (Hons) degree in Accounting from the University of Ulster in Northern Ireland in 1995, and in 1999 was admitted as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland. Ian is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.

Philip Loveday

Head of Business Development & Founding Partner

Philip Loveday is the Head of Business Development and founding partner of Rye Bay Capital LLP. Prior to joining Rye Bay Capital in September 2015, Philip worked at UBS Investment Bank for 14 years from September 2001 to August 2015.

Philip was a senior member of the European Capital Introduction team for 4 years based in London, prior to which he worked with the Asia-Pacific Capital Introduction team for 4 further years.

Philip obtained a BCom degree in Accounting and Finance with French from the University of Birmingham in England in 2001.

Alistair Ring

Head of Operations & Founding Employee

Alistair Ring is the Head of Operations and a founding employee of Rye Bay Capital LLP. Prior to joining Rye Bay Capital in September 2015, Alistair worked at Armajaro Asset Management for three years where he was responsible for the operational oversight of emerging markets, global financials and commodity funds.

Before Armajaro, Alistair was at Nevastar Finance from 2006 where he assumed responsibility for the operations team, covering all of the middle and back office functions. Alistair started his career in 2004 at AllianceBernstein as a reconciliations analyst.

Alistair holds the SII Level 3 Certificate in Investment Management.

Clark Diamond

Operations Analyst

Clark Diamond is an operations analyst at Rye Bay Capital LLP. Prior to joining Rye Bay Capital in March 2017, Clark worked for two years as a Head of Year and mathematics teacher at a secondary school in London.

Clark attained a BSc in Mathematics at the University of Leicester in 2011 and a PGCE in Secondary Mathematics Teaching from Goldsmiths University, London in 2014. Clark attained his CAIA qualification in 2018.

Alex Dimitriadis

Operations Analyst

Alex Dimitriadis is an operations analyst at Rye Bay Capital LLP. Prior to joining Rye Bay Capital in September 2019, Alex worked for two years at JP Morgan within the Fund Services department.

Alex obtained a BSc in Accounting and Finance (First Class Hons) at the University of Macedonia in 2015 and an MSc in Investment Fund Management (Distinction) at the University of Glasgow in 2017.

Alex became a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in 2020.
